Brilliant mate, I left a reel of 80lb braid and a reel of 100lb leader on the table in front of my computer. For three days each time i sat down to check email or stuff around I practiced the knot! Now with practice I am highly proficient with a knot, one which I was always frightened away from. This weekend I am going to give a demonstration at my fishing club! Fantastic learning curve, many thanks!

The saving grace for not really using it with large hard bait lures like crank baits is that, unless you're using the split ring that came with the lure, you most likely want a loop knot for that presentation, anyway.

Its a greate knot, but why not just use the Alberto? It works well for all line sizes, ita super wasy and most important, far easier and faster out on the boat.

Same strength as a Palomar but the Palomar is easier to tie.

No! its called the 'grinner' knot!

Back in the early 1970’s when I began fishing as a teenager, I used the clinch knot for all my connections to lures and hooks with Dupont Blue Stren monofilament line. I kept having knots break. Somewhere I read, maybe Field and Stream or Bassmaster magazine, a knot called the “Double Improved” Clinch knot. I started tying that not and have never changed since. This knot always pulls down tight and snug. I use it for all lines now, monofilament, Fluorocarbon and even braid.

I disagree with the end… this knot can be used to tie anything on including spinnerbaits and even the bottom end of already tied swivels just pull tag end thru the loop.

Problem with this way is your leader can't be connected to you main line

i do not care for how he finishes this knot. take the time to do a proper rizzuto finish. adds maybe an extra minute.

The Palomar is the strongest

So i’ve gotten this knot perfectly when i tie it with 10 lb braid and 8 lb leader but recently i’ve been trying with 50lb braid and 15 lb leader and the leader line has just slipped right out of the loops at the first half hitch step when you are meant to tighten it. Any clue why?

I have never seen this knot before, and I am definitely going to try it. I do a lot of carp fishing and I use braid main line with a monofilament shock leader on the front to avoid abrasion and cutting my fingers while casting The knot I've been using is big and bulky and has a tendency to tick through the line guides. This looks like it's going to be a lot slicker and increase my casting distance. Thank you very, very much for this wonderful tutorial.

Another common name for this knot is the " knotless" knot. It's only good for making leaders and can not be tied to your main line. I use it almost exclusively when making leaders. It's also very good for making hook links and hair rigs for carp fishing

Pretty sure the "loop" is called an overhand knot.

Hey man I’d watch more catch and cook videos for sure. I’m learning to cook and this was easy to follow. I saved the steps so I can make it again without the video. I want to do pan-seared bass but I don’t want to insult the fish 😂.

I use this not all the time but I pass the line through the eye twice, this spreads the load on the line more.

Awsome video! tied on 12 lb mono onto another lighter pound test line mono and worked with barely any error hands werent in the way like some other videos
